CRAZY times...

Crazy times!!!

Just a heads-up that Marianne made the top 2500 books – all books, including non-fiction – yesterday, on Amazon. Yep, that was Terry Pratchett at number one in British and Irish satire - and my Marianne at #2.

What's funny is (a) this is my most romantic book yet and (b) Pratchett prob. sells more books every lunchtime than I have, um, ever!!!

Anyway, I'm no marketing expert, but I’m thinking that, rather than leaving it at .99 for its first month I should move the price back to somewhere realistic NOW, and maybe break even sooner than I’ve ever done before.

Marianne’s really done amazingly, and at a terrible time of year. (It took me longer to write than usual - due to my husband’s illness -  and I squeezed it out at the end of October, knowing that November is when the big boys of publishing shove out their Christmas blockbusters. Believe me, Indies can simply get lost in the shuffle!!)

So, I’m letting you lovely people know FIRST - with very grateful thanks for all your support! - that I’m likely going to do this next week.

So, if you haven’t bought Marianne yet, but think you might like it, download it asap at .99!!!! The editorial reviews have been crazy-good. Not even Darcy got this kind of reception!!! 🤩🤩🤩 XXAlice

A deeply felt and pitch-perfect continuation that lets its title character finally come into her own.”     – Kirkus Review

"Marianne captures the essence of  Austen, throwing together favorite characters that readers love - or love to hate - to see how they gel. The result is funny, heartwarming and everything lovers of Austen’s universe could hope for." - BookLife Prize review in PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

“A masterpiece! Dive in!” – Editor, HISTORICAL FICTION COMPANY review

‘An absolute delight: bright, lively prose, a focus on romance and satire worthy of Austen herself.”     – IndieReader editorial review

“A vivid portrait of Regency life, filled with class anxieties, and the limitations even wealthy women faced. McVeigh delivers a rare kind of sequel: one that honors Austen's world while expanding it. McVeigh is true to the spirit of the original while offering something entirely her own.”   – RECOMMENDED by the US Review of Books

Always be nice to passing photographers, people, and you might just wind up in their book...

Unasked for advice #932: Always be nice to passing photographers...

A year ago, while signally failing to flog massive numbers of the paperbacks of my Austen series in Royal Tunbridge Wells - see below for Medium article - I met a friendly photographer with one of those heavy-duty, not-a-joke, serious cameras.

He persuaded me to leave the scene of my non-triumph to pose for him, but never got in touch afterwards. Of course, I forgot all about it. This week... this happened. (LOL. Lady Catherine de Bourgh... reborn!!!)

Here's my Medium article on how (not!!!!) to sell books in person at artisan fairs:
